As part of the City of Elizabethtown 's stormwater master plan,
Vector Engineers, Inc. provided civil engineering consulting for
a
culvert replacement in a developed residential subdivision in
Elizabethtown , Kentucky . The existing 36” corrugated metal
pipe was undersized and raised upstream headwaters high enough to flood adjacent homes. Vector Engineers, Inc. performed a detailed topographic survey and designed a 68 L.F., 6'x3' reinforced concrete box culvert which lowered the headwater elevation and alleviated flooding concerns by the city. A new ditch was also designed in order to more efficiently convey stormwater between existing homes. It was crucial to the city that the design incorporated an alignment that minimized impacts to existing utility crossings and streets as well as preserve existing vegetation and trees.
Vector Engineers, Inc. provided cost estimates, quantity worksheets, public bid information for the local newspaper and construction staking for the contractor.
